Welcome to William (Liam) Mysterious Woodard's corner of the internet. Right now it's themed as a wizard tower. Before that it was themed as personnel quarters on a space station. I don't expect to retheme it soon, but one day I'm sure I will.
So to find your way here, you may have sat down to a cute table and chair set after having gravity shift on you considerably. If so, please enjoy a beverage of your choice which has appeared on the coaster in front of you while reading this text off of a leaflet you found on the table.
You may have taken a look at the pinboard in my study, in which case feel free to realize that behind and around each highlight listed here are copious notes and design scribbles where I sort out the details.
Or you found your way here from the greater web, maybe we met on fedi, or perhaps you found me on the now page directory run by Derek Sivers, who inspired this page's creation. In which case, welcome to this choose your own adventure style silliness.
I've recently become an uncle (again), and I just got home from visiting my new nibling. They're adorable and I am really looking forward to seeing them grow.
At some point I may write about what I do to travel in a way that's safe for my family and me, re: COVID and other infectious illnesses. (If that's something you'd like to read about, please let me know! It's easier to write about something if I know someone wants to read it)
Due to the travel, I've been out of the swing of things, and am now trying to find my way back into my usual habits.
I am currently playing around with Typst, planning on building pdfs of my workouts for both my own refrence and for sharing here. I think I can build a framework that will let me quickly pull in pre-written text of any exercise I feel like including, and run the same formatting over all of it quickly once I get it set up.
Work on the library continues. We've framed out the storage bench we're building to cover interesting choice to have the top section of an I-beam above floor level along one wall.
We've cut some plywood we found in the basement to size for the top of the bench, added quarterround trim to it and tried staining it. Unfortunately, whatever treatment this plywood had in its former life resulted in a very patchy stained result, so we changed plans and went with a fun painted look instead. Using a drywall stomp brush as a paint tool worked surprisingly well! We're now waiting on the sealer to fully cure out before putting the top in place.
We've purchased some flat-pack bookcases to put up, and have put in carpet tile. We're very close to finishing up the room, and that's very exciting!
My current media obsession is watching The Closet Historian https://youtu.be/channel/UCbH0Fj-R756TzpRohxfqKVA on youtube, after a friend on fedi shared her opening to her new Drafting Dangerous series, learning a ton about pattern drafting, really enjoying the looks she's put together, and feeling inspired by her renovations to her new (old) house!
I'm taking up Dan's offer to host a banner add on his text adventure game https://www.improbableisland.com, which is available for anyone with a hobby site like this one. As described here I haven't made the banner yet, but I intend to in the next couple of weeks.
I've been trying to strike a balance between keeping up with current events and not destroying my mental health.
.. As a trans person living in the USA, this has been a struggle.
So, if you're sitting in the lounge at the top of the stairs, it's probably time to Choose a doorway.
If you're looking at my pinboard, find something else in the study to look at.
If you've only just arrived, I encourage you to begin at the beginning.
